Gluten-Free Flour Substitute That Actually Works!

For all my GF buddies, I’m so so SO excited to share with you a product I’ve discovered! If you’ve read any of my posts concerning my health, you will already know that I live a gluten-free lifestyle (not by choice). I’ve tried a number of GF flours, and they’re not bad. But, it’s definitely been a frustrating journey when it comes to wanting to try new recipes and not being able to just substitute the flour for a GF one. I’m sure we don’t all have the time and patience to figure out how to tweak regular recipes with the end result being as close to the original recipe as possible. Kudos to those who have done this! As for me, there’s no way. I’d be too frustrated!

Before going gluten free, I enjoyed baking. I’m no Buddy from Cake Boss and I definitely cannot invent my own recipes, but I do like trying recipes from other great bakers. Unfortunately, some of the recipes I’ve used in the past I could not use with GF flour. I had to search for specific GF recipes in order for the outcome to be decent, at the least. I used to make this amazing pumpkin bread every year during the holidays. That went out the window as soon as I realized that just substituting flours was not an option. And in the beginning, the process of adjusting to a very new lifestyle can be frustrating as it is; never mind trying to calculate and get all scientific with formulas to work in baking!

Ok, now let me tell you how I have discovered an amazing GF flour that has eliminated my frustrating endeavors regarding baking. Every time I’ve gone to the local grocery store, I’ve always stopped by the baking aisle to see if there were new GF products I could test out. One day, I found King Arthur’s Gluten-Free Measure for Measure flour. I’ve used a number of King Arthur’s GF products in the past and have enjoyed them. So, I bought this product because it was a 3 lb bag at a better price than what I had been buying at the time. I figured I wouldn’t have to buy GF flour again the following week with this big bag, and I liked trying different GF products.

I can tell you that I’ve been so happy with this flour. When I had bought this product, I did not fully understand why it was labeled “Measure for Measure”. So, I went online to research the difference between this flour and other GF flours. And then I read this: “The one flour for your gluten-free baking; perfect for converting your favorite recipes into gluten-free versions.

I did not want to get my hopes up, but I could feel the excitement bubbling up in me. So, I decided to try this flour on two different recipes. I used it with a pumpkin cake and chocolate cake recipe.  These recipes I used were not GF. I

truly believe it is the small things in life that can get me so excited, and the fact that these cakes came out amazing and did not have that texture and taste one can get from GF recipes has me convinced that my days of baking frustration are over.

As Christmas is only a few short days away, I’m going to be in my kitchen this weekend, whipping up a ton of GF Christmas magic with this amazing, new favorite flour. If you haven’t used this product, I encourage you to try it! I’m in no means getting paid for this review, nor do I have any affiliate links for this. It made life a bit more simpler for me in my kitchen and I’m sure it can for you!
